WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, with over 1.5 billion active users. It’s also been around for a long time, and as such, it has amassed a lot of features over the years. One of those features is WhatsApp’s dark mode, which was first introduced back in 2017. If you’re not familiar with WhatsApp’s dark mode, it allows you to change the app’s overall appearance to make it more dark and moody. This can be helpful if you’re trying to avoid being seen by others when you’re using the app in public, or if you just want to make your phone look nicer overall. To activate WhatsApp’s dark mode, first open the app and click on the three lines in the top-left corner of the screen. From here, select Settings from the menu that appears. Next, scroll down until you see Dark Mode and tap on it. Now that we’ve activated WhatsApp’s dark mode, let’s take a look at how it looks and works. When you first turn on dark mode, it will initially be very light and almost transparent. Over time (and depending on your device), this will gradually become darker until it becomes fully functional. To adjust how dark your phone’s display is while in dark mode, simply drag the slider located at the bottom of the screen left or right until you find a setting that works for you. You can also adjust how bright light from outside sources will be allowed into your phone while in dark mode by tapping on Light Intensity from within Dark Mode settings. ..

We’ve waited a while for this and its finally here. While a number of people have had access to the beta version of WhatsApp with the dark mode, for tests and whatnot, the feature is just rolling out globally.

Nice right? There’s a catch. Right now, the feature is available for users on Android 10 Q and IOS 13 users automatically when they turn on the dark mode feature on their devices, Android 9 and below would have to turn it on manually.

If you’re planning to get one of the new S20 devices, you should know, you’ll get this straight out of the box, iPhone 11 users as well have the IOS 13 and most of the other apple devices should have already had an update sent to them right now.

To activate WhatsApp new dark mode manually, simply make sure you’ve updated your app to the latest version and head over to the app settings » Chats » Themes and then select the dark mode feature to turn it on.

This is a nice development from Facebook, read the announcement here.
